Cisco announces the release of Cisco Borderless Access, the company's recently announced Borderless Networks architecture that enables highly secure wireless communications using its' EnergyWide proactive power management technology. Cisco's new system is also available for wired communications as well.

With this announcement, Cisco is introducing an entire new series of fixed-switching product lines, the Cisco Catalyst 3560/3750-X Series and 2960-S Series of Gigabit switches.

The network infrastucture giant announced new routing innovation in the areas of advanced security and performance.

Inbar Raab, Senior Director, Borderless Networks Marketing at Cisco says "our initiative is targeted at the higher performance needs of the Internet, with more cloud and mobile traffic requirements. It's responding to a market today where about 65 percent of Cisco network traffic is video."

She also added that there were three components to the announcement: The first is a borderless architecture blueprint, complete with configuration solutions, across the board, for all levels of organizations, packaged in design guides for the SMB, midmarket and enterprise.

The second is Borderless Network Services -- video, security, mobility across multiple devices in the network. It means being able to deliver video end to end along the network because the network allocates the right resources."

Medianet video solutions enable the detection and optimization of video and video endpoints, as well as the allocation and prioritization of network resources so that video can be delivered from one type of device, such as a Cisco TelePresence unit, to another type, such as a laptop or mobile phone.

Medianet 1.0 is now supported on the new Catalyst fixed switches and Cisco ISR G2 routers.

Cisco TrustSec is a new security solution allowing customers to deploy security policies across all access technologies, whether those are wired, wireless or virtual private networks. It combines identity and policy management to better protect both customer and employee transactions anywhere on the network and to help ensure that users are authenticated and given access to network services based on identity.

Wenceslao Lada, VP, Worldwide Channels Borderless Network at Cisco says "this will be a strong service opportunity for Cisco partners, who will be able to consult how different applications will be configured for good performance."

Cisco also released the EnergyWise SDK (software development kit), available through the Cisco Developer Network, which enables third-party developers to implement EnergyWise support in their products.

Anyconnect Secure Mobility is a new solution for securing mobile phone calls, which not only secures the connection, but also delivers the type of advanced security services Cisco customers need for their workforce.

The solution enables mobile users to easily and securely access the applications and information they need to do their jobs using their mobile device of choice, including laptops and handhelds such as iPhones.

Meanwhile, the solution allows companies to easily manage the security risks and the flexibility they need to build security policies that fit their business model.

Cisco AnyConnect secure mobility is based on multiple products: ASA, Iron Port web security appliance and Cisco VPN solutions.

It works seamlessly, with users always connected while moving between wired and wireless connectivity. It can enforce intelligent policies based on identity and application.
